The Wright United

The 285/285N received new Volvo B5LH/Wright Gemini 3 buses, making the route double decker officially for the first time since 1990. So on the 4th July 2015, due to the BV1 contract for one day only, the VHs made an early appearance on the 285 and, predictably, the H91.

And they do look good!

A batch of 19 is ordered for the use of Routes 285 and 116 (eventually). So being typical Hounslow Heath Garage, they decided to put them on the H91 as well as the 285 on their first day.

And a suitable sunny day for photographs provides a good thing to look forward to after an A Level exam!

The London United VHs now have white fleet numbers and legal lettering, which is different from the usual yellow/mustard offering.

The rear treatment of the VHs are neat, with the website, company logo and recruitment number all fitting at the rear.

VH27 and VH29 did both the 285 and H91, which is quite common to see buses being regularly swapped on the H91.

The buses, in my (Aubrey's) opinion look neat and brilliant, and possibly suit the 285.

The interior is the standard RATP-Dev London interior. Very turquoise. Much circles.

A ride on VH31 from Feltham to Kingston was long, but smooth, comfortable and fairly good.

Yes, some VHs were curtailed: to Harlington Corner. Hampton Sainsbury's and Hampton Wick on the 285, and Ravenscourt Park on the H91.

Another ride on VH29 (the first ride was on the H91 between Windmill Road and Boston Manor Road) showed that the upper deck air cooling system worked quite a treat in such warm conditions.

Overall, these buses look good, ride well and seem to be fairly good on their first day.
